July. Almuñécar Jazz Festival: the “Jazz on the Coast”.

The festival has become the biggest event of its kind in southern Spain, being one of the oldest international jazz encounters in Europe.

During this month the feast in honor of Virgen de la Antigua, patroness of Almuñécar, is celebrated. Its origins date back to 1569, the year in which of Philip II’s army defeated the troops of the Moorish chieftain Aben Humeya when they were trying to seize the Castle of San Miguel.
